Mayazul Lodge

A boutique oceanfront lodge in the heart of Mexico's Permit Alley

Mayazul Lodge is perched at the mouth of Ascension Bay in Mexico. Protected within UNESCO Heritage Sian Ka'an Biosphere, Ascension Bay is revered as one of the most prolific and diverse bonefish, permit, snook, and juvenile tarpon fisheries -- among many other species in the Caribbean. Each day, anglers gather beachfront from the newly renovated lodge in custom-kitted pangas for a full day on the flats, and return to beachside cocktails and fish-tales. This is a permit paradise with consistent opportunities for bonefish and other species. The level of quality and service sets this lodge apart.

Fishing

Ascension Bay is revered as one of the most prolific and diverse flats fisheries in the Caribbean with bonefish, snook, and juvenile tarpon; but the true treasure is the permit population. Anglers fish with two guides to each custom panga to maximize each opportunity.

Accommodation

The lodge is on a beachfront property and has been fully renovated with indigenous materials. It offers exquisite ocean views accompanied by an open bar and a la carte menu featuring local fare from the sea. Accommodations include 4 air-conditioned ensuite double rooms with 2 queen beds.

Gear

A 6-8 weight setup for bonefish and 9-10 weight for permit, tarpon, and snook with tropical floating lines. Flats-style wading boots are suggested. We will provide a comprehensive gear list, including flies, upon confirmation.

Trip Specifics

Mayazul Lodge is approximately 35 miles south of Tulum in the Sian Ka'an biosphere. Best accessed by Cancun or Tulum International Airport. Guests should arrive in Mexico between 11 AM & 2 PM. Round-trip vehicle transport to a lodge panga to Punta Allen is organized by the lodge at a per group cost. Panga transfer is approximately 1 hour per direction. The lodge offers a stocked fly shop, fly tying station, and top-shelf loaner equipment (rods/reels/lines). The small venue is ideal for group buy-outs and/or families. Travelers must possess a passport valid for 6 months after the last day of their trip.

Rates

4-to-7-night fishing stays are offered. Single room/guide between $5,650 and $8,500. Shared room/guide between $3,950 and $5,750 per angler. Non-angler, full or half-day fishing on arrival/departure rates are available. Lodging, meals, open bar, guide, loaner gear and VAT included. Transfers additional.
